In Medja, border village of the municipality of Zitiste, Ilic handed over keys to 21 houses that have been constructed with means from the republic’s budget and donations, and said at that occasion that by the end of the year 54 more families will get a roof over their heads.
In the village Jasa Tomic, in the municipality of Secanj, in the newly constructed residential area “Utrine’ 36 families got houses, 57 families got houses in the village centre and 4 families in a nearby residential area of Busenje.
Ilic said that in a period of 15 days a number of other citizens will move into their new houses, and also that by the end of this year all those who remained homeless will get their houses, as has been promised.
Ilic expressed his gratitude to all those who contributed to removing the consequences of the spring floods and said that a sum of nearly €10 million was spent on the construction work, and also that a sum of €10 million was given from the budget to agricultural producers to compensate for the damage done by the floods.
The ceremony of handing over the keys of new housing facilities was also attended by Serbian Minister of Economy Predrag Bubalo, Serbian Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management Ivana Dulic-Markovic, as well as the Vojvodina Executive Council Chairman Bojan Pajtic.
