Opening a seminar "Anti-corruption services and implementation of the Law on prevention of the conflict of interest" held in the Intercontinental hotel, Stojkovic said that the cases of corruption must be rooted out because the suppression of corruption is one of the basic conditions for the signing of the Agreement on Stabilisation and Association with the European Union.
The Minister of Justice said that the anti-corruption strategy is being discussed by the parliament, and that anti-corruption bodies are being formed, adding that Serbia enters a very important stage of the implementation of adopted laws.
He said that it is very important to raise citizens' awareness on the need of fighting corruption, because only in that way could it be completely successful.
Representative of the Council of Europe office to Serbia-Montenegro Nadja Cuk said that regional cooperation is very important in combating corruption.
OECD representative Christian Verges pointed to the importance of regional cooperation and said that is important not only to adopt laws, but also to implement them in order to suppress corruption.
Head of the regional office of Anti-Corruption Initiative of the Stability Pact of South Eastern Europe Veselin Sukovic said that apart from the implementation of provisions for the fight against corruption, it is necessary to strengthen specialised institutions for that fight and to raise awareness of the importance of that process.
