The adopted Law on offences will become effective as of January 1, 2007, and it introduces a different systematisation according to which the first instance offence proceedings will be conducted by magistrate courts, and the second instance by the higher magistrate court. Magistrate courts will pronounce sentences, approve guarantees or issue detention warrants.
The parliament adopted the Law on responsibility of producers of factory seconds, which will enable a better protection of consumers and specify cases in which they will have the right to demand compensation.
The parliament members also adopted the Law on workplace safety which should create conditions for increasing safety at work in Serbia, in line with European standards, and to reduce the number of workplace injuries.
The Law on mourning day observations in Serbia was also adopted, and it is the first regulation detailing such occurrences, as well as the Law on prevention of doping in sport which is one of the conditions for Serbia's participation in international sport activities.
The Serbian parliament also adopted the Law on Police, Law on Public Roads, Law on the State Auditing Institution, Law on Foreign Trade and Law on Tobacco.
