During his visit to the district court in Leskovac, Stojkovic said that criminal charges have been brought against 40 presidents of courts and judges in Serbia because of corruption, and also that the efficiency of the work of individual presidents of the court will be examined and suitable disciplinary measures will be taken.
He said that corruption exists in the justice system, but it must be rooted out, because if the justice system is not free of corruption then the state itself cannot be just.
Stojkovic said that the recent report by the Council of Europe is more favourable than it was at the time when he took the office of minister. According to Stojkovic, at that time 28 different elements needed to be set right in the justice system, and now only four areas remain in the reform process: corruption, efficiency, political influence and conditions in penal institutions.
