Stojkovic met in Bosilegrad with the staff of the district court who are of the Bulgarian national minority, and said that the problem of introduction of bilingualism in the courts is related to personnel.
He said that the greatest problems are a lack of knowledge of legal terminology in one’s mother tongue and is most visible among the ethnic Albanian populations in Presevo and Bujanovac.
Stojkovic said that the efficiency of courts in Serbia has increased eight percent, and as required by the Ministry of Justice, legal disputes should be settled at the latest within a period of six months.
He said that efficiency will be significantly increased from January 1, 2006, with the introduction of the institution of mediators in all courts, which will resolve many disputes in out-of-court procedures.
