Certain progress in Belgrade-Pristina negotiations achieved

Director of the Office for Kosovo-Metohija Petar Petkovic stated today that certain progress has been made during the technical dialogue of the delegations of Belgrade and Pristina in Brussels regarding the question of the missing persons and that a new round of the expert dialogue will be held in the second half of October.

After the trilateral meeting, Petkovic explained that he insisted on the issue of the missing persons and that their families will exert their right to bury their loved ones and underlined that it is not a political issue, but a civilisation issue.

He added that it was agreed to hold meetings at the technical level once a month, and that depending on the development of situation on that level, a meeting at the highest level will be scheduled.

Petkovic reiterated that the talks on concrete issues and the respect for the agreements made is the only way to make a breakthrough in the talks between Belgrade and Pristina and to achieve normalisation of relations.

He recalled that 3,064 days have passed since the Brussels Agreement was signed and that Pristina has denied to implement it for eight years.

The Office Director said that the meeting in Brussels was an opportunity to mention all 93 incidents that took place in Kosovo-Metohija since the beginning of the year. He warned of a growing number of attacks on Serbian children, the elderly, breaking and entering and desecration of temples and graves.
