Serbian Minister of Energy and Mining Radomir Naumov ended yesterday an official visit to Croatia, where he met with Croatian President Stjepan Mesic and discussed the possibilities of further cooperation between the two countries in the energy sector.
Naumov and Mesic agreed that the contract on formation of an energy union between the countries of Southeast Europe recently signed in Athens, forms a solid base for further ties between the two countries in the oil and gas sectors, all the more so because establishing regional ties enables Serbia-Montenegro and Croatia to additionally valorise their favourable geostrategic position.
Participants in the meeting said that projects of connecting the Serbian and Croatian gas pipeline and constructing a Pan-European oil pipeline could open new perspectives for both countries in transition for building up the most important European and regional energy infrastructure objects.
Present at the meeting were also Serbian Assistant Minister of Energy and Mining Slobodan Sokolovic and economic advisor to the Croatian president Dubravko Radosevic, as well as the representatives of the Croatian Electricity Company (HEP), the INA oil company, the Croatian gas company “Plinkro”, and the Energy Institute Hrvoje Pozar.
