Director of the EU Integration Office Tanja Miscevic pointed out that NGOs are key participants in the process of democratisation in Serbia and in the formation of a civil society, which is the basic goal defined by this Memorandum.
She briefed the NGO representatives on the calendar and topics of forthcoming talks on the conclusion of the Stabilisation and Association Agreement (SAA) with the EU.
According to Miscevic, three official and five technical rounds of talks will be held before November 2006, and at the same time the talks will be monitored through meetings of the advanced standing dialogue.
Representative of the European Agency for Reconstruction (EAR) Svetlana Lucic-Djukic said that the EAR has so far secured €9.5 million for supporting the development of the civil society.
The meeting was organised by the Serbian EU Integration Office and the Friedrich Ebert Foundation.
