Head of the Serbian government’s Office of Media Relations Srdjan Djuric said today that according to the Serbian government’s position, yesterday’s statement by Slovenian President Janez Drnovsek concerning the future independent status of Kosovo presents uncalled for interference in the internal affairs of Serbia-Montenegro.
Djuric said that it is expected that President Janez Drnovsek would hold to clear international principles of the sanctity of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of democratic states.
According to Djuric, any moves towards trying to set new precedents and experimentation when it comes to internationally acknowledged boundaries are not only irrational but also dangerous.
Djuric said that it is hoped that the Slovenian president will hold to the principles upon which international stability and order depend, and added that due to the statement made by the Slovenian president, it has been decided that his visit to Serbia-Montenegro, planned for November 2, be cancelled.
