Vojislav Kostunica
In a statement to the Tanjug news agency, Kostunica pointed out that Serbia-Montenegro is a democratic country, adding that redrawing borders and impinging upon sovereignty of a European, democratic state is a case without precedent.
According to Kostunica, it is the Security Council who has the authority to guarantee the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Serbia-Montenegro.
“The issue of Kosovo-Metohija must be resolved in the way it is done in any other democratic state – through various means of autonomy, and we are ready to guarantee the essential autonomy for Kosovo-Metohija”, Kostunica pointed out.
He added that no other solution will resolve the issue, but pose farther-reaching and more serious problems in the region.
“Therefore I am convinced that the Security Council will by no means experiment with the sovereignty and territorial integrity of a democratic country, and that the compromise solution will be reached in the form of the essential autonomy for Kosovo-Metohija”, concluded the Prime Minister.
