At a joint press conference with Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Yury Borisov, Popovic said that his interlocutor confirmed that Russia will meet our needs and distribute vaccines.
He stated that Borisov insists that Russian vaccine "Sputnik V" be produced in Serbia and that he has the support of President of Russia Vladimir Putin and the Russian government.
The Minister expressed the hope that the production of the Russian vaccine at the Serbian Institute for Virology, Vaccines and Serum "Torlak" will start as soon as possible, but that it will take place in two phases - the first phase could start in two to three months, and the second within seven to nine months.
The topic of today's meeting were the projects that are taking place between the two countries in all areas, Popovic said and added that Serbia wants even more joint projects with Russia.
Borisov, who is also co-chairman of the Intergovernmental Committee for Trade, Economic and Scientific-Technical Cooperation between Serbia and Russia, confirmed that Russia will deliver "Sputnik V" vaccines to Serbia in the agreed quantities and will always meet the needs of the Serbian partners.
After the meeting with the Prime Minister Ana Brnabic and Popovic, Borisov said that the meeting was constructive and that one of the topics was cooperation in the field of transport, since Russian companies are working on the modernisation of the Serbian railway, and he praised the opening of a section of the Turkish Stream gas pipeline through Serbia.
