The Serbian government’s official website gives Kostunica’s statement in full:
“I think that the decision of the Democratic Party’s Executive Board is not good, and I would also call it reckless. To pass such a decision when Serbia is to start the talks with the EU and when our country’s European perspective has opened, which is undoubtedly a huge success for both our citizens and the country, means that the Democratic Party (DS) is mainly driven by narrow party interests, or, to call a spade a spade, by marketing interests.
“It is not good that one party does not want a part in the country’s success just because that success was not achieved through the efforts of that party alone.
“Naturally, it will be good and desirable that the parliament sessions are attended by all MPs and that all parties take on their share of responsibilities, which means that the DS should reconsider their decision. The Serbian government and the ruling majority will continue with the realisation of their programme and aims whose results are concrete and increasingly obvious, and in the service of the real interest of Serbia and its citizens”, reads the Prime Minister’s written statement.
