Minister of Finance Sinisa Mali held today a video meeting with Regional Director of IKEA for Southeast Europe Sara Del Fabbro and Director of IKEA Department Store Strahinja Urosevic regarding that company’s decision to return RSD 14.89 million of state aid intended for the payment of minimum wages.

The representatives of IKEA said that the company’s results are much better than expected and that they returned the money granted to them into the state budget. This shows that the state’s economic measures were good, jobs have been preserved, the demand has been preserved, and the expenditures are growing, the Minister pointed out.
Precisely for that reason, they don’t need this money now and they have shown a great responsibility towards the state by returning RSD 14.89 million of state aid.
In a letter addressed to the minister, IKEA company states that it decided to return the generous support it received from the Serbian government intended for maintaining salaries of its employees. IKEA is aware that at this moment there are other segments of society that are in greater need for this kind of assistance.
