Serbia has a chance to be leader of fourth industrial revolution

Prime Minister Ana Brnabic today said that digitalisation brings great changes and challenges, which our country could use to benefit from it and be one of the winners of the fourth industrial revolution.

Participating in the panel "Geopolitics in the Digital Age – Can Serbia Take a Chance?", organised by the company Ringier Axel Springer and the Serbian Chamber of Commerce, Brnabic emphasised that the world is becoming a very complex place for both big as well as for small countries such as Serbia.

Stating that Serbia is between the East and the West, she said that our country is trying to do its job, focusing on solving its problems and improving the lives of its citizens.

In this political struggle of the great powers, Serbia is trying to balance carefully, said the Prime Minister, explaining that we are trying to solve this kind of challenge through regional stability.

Brnabic stressed that it is obvious that the world is changing with digitalisation, but that these changes are a great chance for small countries and those who can adapt more quickly.

Now is the right time for Serbia to catch up with the fourth industrial revolution, because smaller countries can become leaders in it, she said.

The fact that Serbia was late in the earlier industrial revolutions can now be its advantage in the business world, she added, noting that small startup companies adapt more easily than large companies because they are more flexible and dynamic.

Our country is accustomed to changing and solving various challenges, and this is precisely our advantage in the world of the fourth industrial revolution, the Prime Minister concluded.

At the panel, distinguished local and foreign experts discussed strategic issues affecting policy making, business and the economy and answered questions about the importance of digitalisation as a long-term investment for companies and the state.
