Support for improving higher education, developing teaching staff

Prime Minister Professor Đuro Macut, MD, DSc, met today with vice-rectors of universities and deans of state faculties in the fields of natural and mathematical, technical and pedagogical sciences to discuss improving their work and enrolment policy.

Macut pointed out that the goal of the talks with representatives of universities and faculties is to consider ways for higher education in Serbia to respond as effectively as possible to the real situation and the needs of modern society.

According to him, it is necessary to establish an enrolment policy that will encourage student interest, while the work of universities and faculties should also become more efficient.

The Prime Minister discussed with representatives of natural sciences and mathematics faculties and pedagogical faculties the possibilities for improving their work and ensuring adequate preparation of future teaching staff for work in primary and secondary schools, as well as the steps that should be taken to increase interest in the teaching profession, particularly in the field of natural sciences.

The meetings at the Serbian government building were also attended by Minister of Science, Technological Development and Innovation Academician Bela Balint and Assistant Minister of Education Aleksandar Jović, PhD.
