Prime Minister Professor Đuro Macut, MD, DSc, and Minister of Sport Zoran Gajić attended today, at the Palace of Serbia, the ceremonial signing of the agreement on scholarships for the sports development of promising athletes.
Prime Minister Macut emphasised that investing in sports is investing in the future of Serbia and that athletes are the country’s best ambassadors.
The Prime Minister underlined that Serbian athletes, through their work, discipline, sacrifice and successes, represent Serbia around the world in the best possible way, contributing to the country’s reputation and international affirmation.
According to him, Serbia wins medals at the largest international competitions both abroad and at home, and therefore it is the state’s obligation to provide athletes with conditions for advancement and to support them on the path to new successes and victories.
Macut emphasised that the Serbian government will continue to invest in sports, sports infrastructure and young talents, as sports, fair play, team spirit and healthy values are an important foundation of a successful and strong society.
The Prime Minister congratulated all athletes who received scholarships and wished them much success in their future sporting careers.
Gajić said that 425 scholarship agreements with a total value of RSD 731 million have been approved for 2026, further confirming state support for sports, which has been recognised as one of the government’s priorities.
