Prime Minister Kostunica calls for securing basic human rights in Kosovo through decentralisation, autonomy

Serbian Prime Minister Vojislav Kostunica met today with OSCE High Commissioner on National Minorities Rolf Ekeus and his associates, stressing that a political solution, which stipulates decentralisation and autonomy, would secure basic human rights for Serbs and other non-Albanians in the province.

Ekeus said that the international community is very concerned with the recent violence against Serbs in the province, adding that he opposes the idea of an independent Kosovo-Metohija. The resolution of inter-ethnic tensions calls for an improved education system, political participation and decentralisation, Ekeus added.
