Serbia ready to successfully host top-tier international events

Belgrade, 21 September 2026

Prime Minister in a caretaker capacity Professor Đuro Macut met today with members of the Organising Committee for the 2027 UEFA European Under-21 Championship, to be co-hosted by Serbia and Albania.

Prime Minister Macut, who chairs the Organising Committee, underlined that the upcoming championship is another major sporting event which will confirm Serbia’s readiness to successfully host top-tier international events.

The participants in the meeting examined activities undertaken to date and the next steps in preparing for the competition, as well as the timeline for fulfilling established obligations.

The meeting particularly focused on organisational and infrastructural issues and meeting UEFA standards, so that the tournament, which will be held from 17 June to 4 July 2027 is conducted at the highest level.

At the meeting it was concluded that the Organising Committee will continue to monitor the implementation of all planned activities so that the competition is organised according to the highest standards.

The meeting was attended by State Secretary of the Ministry of Sport Marko Kešelj, State Secretary of the Ministry of Finance Saša Stevanović and General Secretary of the Football Association of Serbia Branko Radujko.
