Part of “Turkish Stream” through Serbia to be ready by year-end

Minister of Mining and Energy Aleksandar Antic said today that there is no dilemma that all countries on the route of the future gas pipeline "Turkish Stream" will carry out activities in accordance with the plan and expressed the expectation that this project, in the part that goes through Serbia to the border with Hungary, will be completed by the end of this year.

Antic told the press during a break at the "Energy Security in the Region" meeting, attended by Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary Peter Szijjarto, Minister of Energy of Romania Anton Anton, Minister of Energy and Mining of Republika Srpska Petar Djokic, Minister of Economy of Montenegro Dragica Sekulic and Minister of Energy of the Republic of Bulgaria Temenuska Petkova, that Bulgaria will also complete the missing line of infrastructure by the end of this year.

Asked about possible threats and risks to the project, Antic pointed out that "Turkish Stream" is a commercial project developed by the participating companies and based on the binding capacity leases in Bulgaria and Serbia.

Talking about possible problems regarding the EU rules, Antic said that the company "Gastrans", which is developing this project, requested and received from the Energy Agency of the Republic of Serbia the approval for exemption from certain provisions of the Third Energy Capacity in accordance with the Law on Energy of the Republic of Serbia, which is in line with EU legislation.

The Minister noted that there is ongoing dialogue with the Energy Community Secretariat, and that he deeply believes that by the end of this process, a common, balanced solution will be found that will be for the satisfaction of all participants.
