Belgrade dissatisfied with fulfilment of standards in Kosovo-Metohija

Serbian Prime Minister Vojislav Kostunica received today UNMIK chief Soren Jessen-Petersen and pointed out that Belgrade is not satisfied with the fulfilment of standards in Kosovo-Metohija, especially the return of the expelled Serb population.
They talked about specific issues related to the improvement of the position of the Serb community in Kosovo-Metohija, the respect of human rights as well as the return of displaced persons.
Previous and future activities of working groups for the return to the province, missing persons, energy and transport were discussed. There was also talk about working groups for the environment and privatisation, as well as modalities for including representatives of Belgrade and Serbs from Kosovo-Metohija into the decentralisation processes.
Kostunica repeated that the Serbian government supports the constructive resolving of all open issues, and emphasised that in order to solve problems in Kosovo-Metohija it is necessary to accelerate the process of standards implementation so that it can begin to yield positive results.
Head of the Coordinating Centre for Kosovo-Metohija Nebojsa Covic, who took part in the meeting, stated that working groups ought to continue their activities and added that he expects a protocol on the return of internally displaced persons to be signed shortly.
Jessen-Petersen assessed that progress in cooperation between Belgrade and Pristina is visible, that working group meetings have produced certain initial results and repeated that it is necessary for representatives of Serbs from Kosovo-Metohija to take part in the work of provisional institutions in Kosovo-Metohija.
The meeting was also attended by representatives of the Serbia-Montenegrin president, the Serbian president and the Serbia-Montenegrin Foreign Ministry.
