After today’s meeting, UNHCR representative Gottfried Koefner stated that this working group focuses on humanitarian problems of displaced persons from Kosovo-Metohija, and that it should solve specific practical issues resulting in the return of those persons.
Koefner said that he was encouraged by the first meeting and that the talks of working groups are the beginning of a long-lasting process, during which representatives of Belgrade and Pristina will resolve technical and practical problems in the process of return.
The next meeting will be held in a few weeks, and the agenda will be defined in the following few days, Koefner said and added that the issue of property is one that both sides singled out as important and which will have to be further discussed in detail in subsequent meetings.
The Belgrade delegation was lead by head of the Coordination Service of the Coordinating Centre for Kosovo-Metohija Vladimir Cucic while the Pristina delegation included representatives of UNMIK and Kosovo interim self-government institutions.
