Serbia, China sign Statement on comprehensive strategic partnership, 21 cooperation agreements

Belgrade, 18 June 2016

The delegations of the Republic of Serbia and the People’s Republic of China signed today in Belgrade a total of 22 cooperation agreements, including a Joint statement on the establishment of comprehensive strategic partnership, which were signed by presidents of Serbia and China Tomislav Nikolic and Xi Jinping respectively.

The agreements signed cover the fields of construction, infrastructure, telecommunications, trade, defence, media, one of the most important being the Agreement on the design and execution of construction works on the Surcin – Obrenovac section of motorway on Corridor 10.

The agreement on this project was signed by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure Zorana Mihajlovic and CEO of China Communication Construction Company Lu Shan.

Minister without portfolio responsible for European integration Jadranka Joskimovic and Minister of Trade of China Gao Hucheng signed the agreements on the economic technical cooperation between Serbia and China for 2015 and 2016.

Mihajlovic and Assistant Foreign Minister of China Liu Haixing signed the Memorandum of Understanding between the Serbian Ministry of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure and the Secretariat for Cooperation of China and Central and Eastern Europe on establishing a Centre for Cooperation in the fields of transport and infrastructure between China and the countries of Central and Eastern Europe.

Minister of Economy Zeljko Sertic and President of the National Development and Reform Commission Xu Shaoshi signed the Agreement on development of cooperation in the field of production capacity.

Minister of Defence Zoran Djordjevic and Chinese Ambassador to Serbia Li Manchang signed the Agreement on cooperation in the defence industry.

Deputy Prime Minister Rasim Ljajic and Shaoshi signed the Memorandum of Understanding on improving the development of the Information Silk Road for information connectivity, and with Chairman of EXIM Bank Hu Xiaolian the Framework agreement on promoting cooperation in trade, tourism and telecommunications.

Director General of Telekom Serbia Predrag Culibrk signed with Xiaolian and Chairman of the Bank of China Tian Guoli the Credit financial agreement that accompanies the Framework contract for the supply of equipment and materials, construction works and provision of services for the implementation of the project of ALL IP transformation.

Culibrk and Deputy Director of Huawei Technologies Lu Jung signed the Framework contract for the supply of equipment and materials, construction works and provision of services for the implementation of the project of ALL IP transformation.

Minister of Finance Dusan Vujovic and the Chairman of the EXIM Bank signed the Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation between these two institutions.

Minister of Mining and Energy Aleksandar Antic and President of Silk Road Fund Wang Yanzhi, President of Chinga Gedzuba Group Wang Tjening and President of China Environmental Energy Holdings Juje Sinju signed the Memorandum of Understanding on joint investment in renewable energy projects in Serbia.

The Memorandum of Understanding for the financing and construction of the power plant to generate electricity from waste in Serbia was signed by Minister Aleksandar Antic and President of China Machinery Engineering Company Zhang Chun and Assistant President Poly Vang Sin’je.

First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ivica Dacic and Minister of Foreign Affairs of China Wang Yi signed the Memorandum of Understanding between the Diplomatic Academy of Serbia and the Chinese University on Foreign Affairs and the Chinese Diplomatic Agency.

Minister of Education Srdjan Verbic and Chinese Ambassador to Serbia Li Manchang signed the Memorandum of Understanding between the two ministries on financing the development and research projects.

Culture ministers of Serbia and China Ivan Tasovac and Luo Shugang respectively signed the Programme of cooperation in the field of culture and arts for the period from 2017 to 2020, while Tasovac and Deputy Director of the Information Office of the State Council of China Guo Veimin signed the Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry and that office.

Director of the Radio Television of Serbia Dragan Bujosevic and Director of the China Radio International Wang G'Nijen signed an agreement on cooperation of these media outlets.

Mayor of Belgrade Sinisa Mali, President of China Machinery Engineering Corporation Zhang Chun and Assistant President Poly Vang Sin’je signed the Memorandum of Understanding for the project of waste waters, while Mayor of Kragujevac Radomir Nikolic and permanent member of the Chinese Communist Party of the Shaanxi province Wei Mindzou signed the Agreement on establishing friendly relations between Kragujevac and the city of Xi'an. Governor of the National Bank of Serbia Jorgovanka Tabakovic and Ambassador of China to Serbia Li Manchang signed the Letters on bilateral currency swap arrangement between the national banks of Serbia and China.
