Kostunica noted that it is necessary to preserve the multiethnic character of the province and added that a compromise needs to be found that will guarantee a long-lasting regional stability. According to him, the province should get a wide autonomy as part of the existing borders of the state union of Serbia-Montenegro. Any change of borders would be a danger for stability in the region, Kostunica warned.
It was agreed that all state institutions and Kosovo Serbs must have a unanimous stance in the talks.
The delegation of the Serbian National Council was made up of Milan Ivanovic, Rada Trajkovic, Dragan Velic, Nenad Radosavljevic, Tomica Zivkovic and Vladimir Rakic. They pointed to the difficulties Serbs and other non-Albanians are facing in the province and warned that their institutional protection must be provided.
