“We commiserate with what is happening to Serbs in the province, and understand the value of monuments in Kosovo-Metohija”, stated Zanardi-Landi. He added that this film expresses the pain and isolation felt by Serbs in Kosovo-Metohija.
The director of the film Elisabetta Valgiusti initiated the ‘Save the Monasteries’ campaign, as part of which she made the film about the pogrom and destruction of Serb churches and monasteries in Kosovo-Metohija in March last year.
The film begins with images of Albanian violence in Podujevo, the destruction of crosses from the domes and the torching of the Church of Sveti Andrija, and ends with a postcard of the Gracanica Monastery near Pristina.
The director of the 53 minute long film depicts the suffering of Serbs in Obilic, the burning of monasteries and churches in Prizren, and devotes special attention to the most representative Serbian Orthodox monuments – the Visoki Decani Monastery, the Pec Patriarchate and the Gracanica Monastery.
Prior to being shown in Belgrade, this documentary film was presented in Rome, where Father Sava Janjic of the Visoki Decani Monastery spoke about the destruction of Orthodox monuments in Kosovo-Metohija at a press conference held at the Italian Parliament.
Director Elisabetta Valgiusti spoke about the film after the screening.
