Investments of companies from Baden-Württemberg in Serbian mining sector

Minister of Mining and Energy Aleksandar Antic and Minister for the Bundesrat, Europe and International Affairs of the State Government Peter Friedrich confirmed today that the companies from this German province are interested in investing in the area of biomass, wind energy and mining in Serbia.

After this meeting, which was also attended by German Ambassador to Serbia Heinz Wilhelm, Antic recalled that Germany has a great experience and is a leader in the field of renewable energy.

He stressed that it was agreed that there is much room for joint Serbian-German projects and added that German experiences and new technologies, especially in mining, geology, hydropower, renewable energy and wastewater treatment, should be used, while taking into account greater environmental protection.

The officials also considered the possibility of organising a joint forum on the use of hydropower and renewable energy.

Friedrich said that the topics of discussion included implementation of projects of wastewater treatment in Stara Pazova, the use of wind energy modeled on a wind farm in Macedonia, as well as a project of hydropower and biomass use in cooperation with the German Development Bank (KfW).

Our investors are ready and are looking for investment opportunities in Serbia, which is facing great challenges in terms of applying European standards, which require large investments, he said, and confirmed the readiness of Baden-Württemberg to help with experience and expertise.
