Minister of Labour, Employment, Veteran and Social Affairs Aleksandar Vulin spoke today with a delegation of the World Bank, led by Head of the Belgrade Office Antonius Verheijen and Director of the Trade and Competitiveness (GTCDR) Cecile Fruman.

Representatives of the World Bank expressed satisfaction with the course of reforms implemented in Serbia, as well as a willingness to support the completion of the restructuring of enterprises through the implementation of the surplus labour programme and the redesigning of specific measures for this category of persons.
Vulin pointed out that the Serbian government does not intend to make new borrowings unless necessary, but that Serbia wants to cooperate with the World Bank, mostly in the area of expert support.
During the talks it was concluded that it is necessary to support the work on the legislative changes in the field of labour, including social entrepreneurship.
Also, it was pointed out that a special attention should be paid to the redesign of a programme for the young and measures that promote the activation of all unemployed people, especially the beneficiaries of social welfare.
At the meeting, the officials confirmed readiness to continue the cooperation between the relevant ministry and the World Bank in the coming period, primarily through expert advice.
