Necessity of closer cooperation between countries of Western Balkans

Minister of Economy Zeljko Sertic talked with member of the Cabinet of European Commissioner for Enlargement Stefan Fule Jana Sindelkova on economic aspects of the process of Serbia's accession to the European Union.
Sindelkova pointed out to the willingness of the European Commission to accelerate the accession process, and added that Serbia can count on the EU’s expertise and financial support.
She specifically highlighted the importance of regional economic initiatives, and stressed the necessity of closer cooperation between the countries of the Western Balkans.
Sertic expressed his gratitude for the support of European partners, and explained that the Serbian government has taken a number of significant moves aimed at rapprochement with the EU standards.
He reiterated that the adoption of EU standards is essential to the Serbian economy, and that overcoming economic difficulties is only possible in close cooperation with the EU, according to a statement by the Ministry of Economy.
