Markovic stated that this is a continuation of the successful cooperation with the OSCE Mission, noting that, “Our joint purpose is to enable the parliament to deal with the most serious issues in the forthcoming period, and it should be a key institution in creating conditions for EU accession”.
He said that institutional preconditions would be created and that in the future the parliament would play a vital role in establishing European standards, while reiterating the parliament’s already substantial contribution to receiving a positive Feasibility Study.
Massari expressed satisfaction with the level of cooperation between the OSCE Mission and the Serbian parliament, stating that the parliament has a key role in the process of EU integrations because it is necessary to adopt a larger number of laws.
He pointed to the importance of the Resolution on EU Accession adopted by the parliament as confirmation of a national consensus and assessed that the parliament’s strengths lie not only in the adoption of laws, but also in their control of the legislative authority.
Massari said that the Memorandum would stimulate further improvement of services and committees of the Serbian parliament and the monitoring of the security sector. He also announced the establishment of a special parliament ‘visitors centre’ in order for citizens and students to have better access.
