The Prime Minister highlighted the need to seek for new institutional guarantees for Serbs and other non-Albanians in the province in order to avert new wave of ethnic violence and secure safety for Kosovo Serbs, conditions for the return of the displaced and the respect for basic human rights.
Selva said that Italy is ready to contribute to the political solution of the problem, noting that military presence in Kosovo-Metohija cannot be a permanent solution.
Selva said that Italy is interested in maintaining cooperation with Serbia-Montenegro, and invited Kostunica to visit the Italian parliament.
