Vulin told the Tanjug news agency that only a day after the official intergovernmental conference in Brussels, by which Serbia officially begins negotiations with the EU, a meeting on Chapter 35 will be held and thus start this year's screenings in the process of Serbia's accession negotiations with the EU.
He pointed out that both for the Serbian negotiating team, as well as for European representatives, the screening on Chapter 35 will be somewhat unknown, as this chapter has not existed for any other EU candidate country in this form.
Vulin stressed the importance of the fact that in this chapter talks will be conducted only between Serbia and the EU, and that there is no third party that could block the progress of the negotiations.
I am sure we will be up to the task, he said, and expressed hope that the talks will focus on the normalisation of relations between Belgrade and Pristina, and on the respect of the Brussels agreement and the action plan for its implementation.
According to the plan, the screenings under the pre-accession talks will last until March 2015 and during that period, Greece, Italy and Latvia will preside over the EU.
