Community of Serbian municipalities crucial for protection of Serbian interests in Kosovo-Metohija

Director of the Serbian government’s Office of Media Relations Milivoje Mihajlovic stated today that the most important thing for Serbia is that the Community of Serbian municipalities is formed and that the newly-elected representatives have legitimacy and legality for the establishment of municipal authorities in Kosovo-Metohija.

In a statement to the television Pink, Mihajlovic underlined that the Community of Serbian municipalities is the key institution that should implement Serbian interests in Kosovo-Metohija, adding that the most relevant fact is that nine mayors from the list of candidates “Srpska” have been elected at the local elections in the province.

The Director of the Office of Media Relations said that the final results of the elections are already known and that only the voting in the village of Pasjane in the Kosovo-Pomoravlje District is contentious, since minor incidents occurred there last night regarding the polling boxes and that is why the elections there might be declared null and void.

He added that a complete formation of powers of the Community of Serbian municipalities in the sense of its international verification is expected to take place in the continuation of talks on Kosovo-Metohija in Brussels.

We will insist that those powers be as broad as possible, Mihajlovic concluded.
