Speaking for the Morning News of the Radio Television Serbia, Mihajlovic said that voters at today’s second round of the local elections in Kosovo-Metohija should choose the best among them who will be their leaders in next four years.
Commenting on the campaign and the increasing tensions as the local elections have been approaching, the Director of the Office of Media Relations said that that is a natural thing before every election, but in any case is better than calls for a boycott or something similar.
He said that he expects a greater turnout than in the 3 November elections, but that votes of Albanians should not be ignored in the municipalities they live in since they can give their vote to one of the two candidates.
Asked how the Serbian government will cooperate with the municipalities in which no candidate from the list of the Civic Initiative "Srpska" wins the majority of votes, Mihajlovic underlined that the idea of the Community of Serbian municipalities is not only the idea of that list, but a general idea for the survival of all Serbs in Kosovo- Metohija.
I do not see the possibility that someone who is not on that list and possibly wins a victory in a municipality, does not enter the Community of Serbian municipalities. I think that would be a really great deception of citizens and I almost exclude that possibility at this point. That could well be bordering on some kind of political suicide if someone does not want to cooperate with Serbia, Mihajlovic said, adding that that would be irrational.
Mihajlovic underlined that he does not expect any incidents to take place, since the Kosovo Police Service, EULEX and KFOR have learned a lesson from the 3 November elections.
There are no reasons for any incident to happen either, he noted and added that he believes that votes from polling stations in Kosovska Mitrovica will indeed be counted there.
