The Ministry of Energy, Development and Environmental Protection stated that after the 16th round of political dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina, conducted with the mediation of the EU, the negotiating teams reached an agreement on energy issues yesterday.
The statement issued by the Ministry underlines that the solution reached provides a maximum protection of interests of the Serbian side at this moment.
The agreement defines the way of management of the electrical power supply system in northern Kosovo-Metohija, enables a stable electricity supply with the protection of interests of the Community of Serbian municipalities and does not deal with property issues.
In addition, it was agreed that the Serbian transmission system and market operator Elektromreza Srbije sign with Kosovo’s transmission system operator, the KOSTT company, an operational agreement within the next three months that will regulate all details related to the functioning of the transmission network in Kosovo-Metohija.
Regulatory agencies will mutually recognise licences of energy companies in the electrical power system – the Kosovo Energy Corporation (KEK), Kosovo Electricity Distribution and Supply Company (KEDS) and the Electrical Power Industry of Serbia (EPS), and the company Elektrokosmet will be transformed into a supplier and distributor of electricity for four municipalities in northern Kosovo-Metohija, it is added in the statement.
