Brussels talks on telecommunications, energy drawing to an end

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and Internal Trade and Telecommunications Rasim Ljajic announced that representatives of Serbia will try to find a solution for the issue of telecommunications in Kosovo-Metohija in today’s consultation with Brussels and Pristina.
Speaking on Pink Television, Ljajic said that today’s consultation will show whether it is possible to find a compromise solution, on the eve of tomorrow’s talks on that topic in Brussels.
He underlined that after tomorrow’s talks in Brussels there will be no more negotiations, or new talks, and that tomorrow is a deadline when both sides should present their final proposals.
If an agreement on telecommunications and energy is reached, which would be very significant, a meeting will be held on 27 August between Prime Minister Ivica Dacic and Prime Minister of Kosovo Hashim Thaci.
Ljajic pointed out that Pristina is taking advantage of the fact that Belgrade wants to secure the start of negotiations with the EU in January next year in order to force it to give in.
There are red lines in all matters that we cannot cross, regardless of political consequences that we might have. We know how far we can go in these negotiations and we have to defend our interest, Ljajic concluded.
