Dacic told reporters after today’s round of negotiations with EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Catherine Ashton and Prime Minister of Kosovo Hashim Thaci that there is no more fear that the ethnic Albanian side will try to obtain confirmation for the so-called statehood of Kosovo through local elections and added that Serbs will be allowed to vote with personal documents, which they possess already now.
According to the Serbian Prime Minister, an agreement was reached to find mechanisms and organise the voting of internally displaced persons and all those born in Kosovo-Metohija, including those who live in central Serbia.
Also, it was agreed to ensure the participation of representatives of the Serbian list of candidates in the central election commission and other election bodies.
The role of the OSCE in the organisation, implementation, monitoring of elections and verification of results was confirmed once more, Dacic said and voiced his hope that agreements on the issue of telecommunications will be reached within the next few days.
He added that some dilemmas regarding the police were cleared up and underlined that if members of the Serbian community want to work in the Kosovo police they will be able to do so without taking Kosovo identification documents.
Dacic however noted that the two sides are still furthest apart in their opinions regarding judiciary and the network of basic and appeal courts in Kosovo.
Dacic said that the next meeting will be held on 27 August, and in the upcoming days the talks will be held at the level of working groups.
Apart from Dacic, the talks held at the headquarters of the European External Action Service were also attended by First Deputy Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic, Minister of Justice Nikola Selakovic, Advisor to the Serbian President Marko Djuric and Director of the Office for Kosovo-Metohija Aleksandar Vulin.
