Eight arrested in Galenika case

Police Director Milorad Veljovic said that eight people suspected of siphoning nearly €12 million from the Galenika pharmaceutical company in transactions carried out through Agrobanka have been arrested in an operation carried out by the Criminal Police Administration.

Veljovic told a news conference that the police arrested former Galenika CEO Nenad Ognjenovic, former assistant director Goran Orlic, co-owner of the Jeremic foundry Miodrag Jeremic, entrepreneur from Vrnjacka Banja Dragan Pavlovic and owner of Unihemcom from Novi Sad Zeljko Jovovic.

According to the Police Director, the police, Organised Crime Prosecutor's Office and the tax police are continuing probes into Galenika's operation in the country and abroad, he said.

No one will be spared in the operation because the abuse has put both Galenika and the pharmaceutical market in Serbia at risk, said Veljovic.
