Vucic, who is on a visit to the north of Kosovo-Metohija today, said after a meeting with Bishop of Raska and Prizren Teodosije that the Brussels agreement is not perfect, but it should not be used to scare people.
Serbia stands by its people and will not abandon them. Sometimes we make decisions that are tough, but the state cannot do without its people, nor can the people do without their country, the First Deputy Prime Minister underlined.
He pointed out that he came to Kosovo to talk to people about the future and what to do.
Explaining the details of the Brussels agreement, he said that Kosovo Army shall not set foot to the north of the province and that nowhere in the agreement does it say that Kosovo Constitution will be respected.
Vucic noted that Kosovo laws will be applied, but that the Serbian government will fund employees in education and health sectors, adding that other powers will be taken over by the Community of Serbian municipalities in northern Kosovo.
Bishop of Raska and Prizren Teodosije said that today’s arrival of Vucic is an encouragement for the Serbs in the province and a sign that the Serbian government and the Serbian Orthodox Church are one being, that they cannot do without each other and that it will be so in the future as well.
The First Deputy Prime Minister attended this morning a liturgy at the Temple of St. Basil of Ostrog, held on the occasion of today’s holiday of this saint.
Today in Leposavic Vucic also met with mayors from northern Kosovo with whom he reached an agreement on coordinating future activities and joint action.
Our people in Kosovo believe in the state, and we neither want, nor can change our own people, Vucic said, adding that the government will serve the best interests of the Serbian people, and that where there are differences of opinion, it always searches for a common ground.
