Wreaths at the monument in the centre of the northern part of Kosovska Mitrovica were laid by Director of the Office for Kosovo-Metohija Aleksandar Vulin and Russian Ambassador to Serbia Alexander Chepurin.
The event was attended by district heads from Kosovo-Metohija, mayors from northern province, Deputy Director of the Office for Kosovo-Metohija Krstimir Pantic, Bishop of Raska and Prizren Teodosije, representatives of Pristina University and others.
The Faculty of Engineering in Kosovska Mitrovica organised a panel discussion themed "The Mission of the Russian consul Shcherbin in the light of modern Russian-Serbian relations," also featuring a short film about the life of the Russian consul.
Grigori Stepanovich Shcherbin was shot in 1903 in the southern part of Kosovska Mitrovica.
Russia decided to send the diplomat in Kosovska Mitrovica in order to have the right information about the suffering of the Serbs in Kosovo-Metohija.
