Head of the Coordinating Centre for Kosovo-Metohija Nebojsa Covic and newly appointed UNMIK’s head of the office for return and local community in Pristina Kilian Kleinschmidt said that safety, the right to legally own property, and an understanding of the economic perspective of returnees are crucial for the return of expelled persons to the province.

Kleinschmidt said that he will insist on property rights so that real owners are really the users of their own property, the Coordinating Centre for Kosovo-Metohija said in a statement.
Covic and Kleinschmidt discussed the importance of the funds earmarked for the return, noting the importance of budgets allocated from the Serbian government and the Kosovo government.
Kleinschmidt suggested cooperation between UNMIK and the Coordinating Centre with the aim of sustaining and bringing new donations for the return in Kosovo-Metohija.
The two officials agreed that UNMIK’s and Coordinating Centre’s experts need to intensify operational meetings relating to the return and to hold these meetings every week, the statement reads.
