Improving economic cooperation with Czech Republic

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and Internal Trade and Telecommunications Rasim Ljajic called today on Czech investors to invest in Serbia and stated that the Serbian government will help domestic businessmen to find their place on the demanding Czech market.

Speaking at the opening of the business forum “Serbia-Czech Republic” held at the Serbian Chamber of Commerce, Ljajic underlined that there is great space for cooperation between companies of the two states and for participation on the markets of Asia and Africa.
The Deputy Prime Minister underlined that excellent political relations and many bilateral agreements have created a framework for the improvement of economic cooperation. He noted that Serbia is doing everything to become an attractive investment destination, which entails taking measures in the fight against corruption, adoption of free trade agreements with many countries and the improvement of the legal framework.
Ljajic said that the big projects in Serbia in which the Czech Republic is interested are the reconstruction of Nis–Dimitrovgrad railroad on the rail Corridor 10, cooperation in the field of energy and cooperation of hydroelectrical power plants, revitalisation of the Stavalj mine and construction of a thermal power plant in that place near Sjenica.
According to him, the cooperation between the two countries can be improved through trade, mostly in the field of agriculture, but also in the fields of energy, transport and infrastructure.
The Protocol on cooperation from the 6th session of the Mixed Commission for Economic Cooperation between Serbia and the Czech Republic was signed at today’s business forum.
