Serbian Prime Minister Vojislav Kostunica received today a delegation of the International Commission on the Balkans headed by Commission President Giuliano Amato. Special attention was focused on the situation in Kosovo-Metohija.
Kostunica pointed out that the basic human rights of Serbs and non-Albanians in Kosovo-Metohija are endangered and stressed that the respect of European democratic values and human rights is a precondition for resolving problems in the province.
The Prime Minister said that any change of borders would have immeasurable consequences not only for the Balkan region but Europe as well.
Amato said that the EU desires that talks with West Balkan countries about joining the EU begin as soon as possible.
