Prime Minister Professor Đuro Macut, MD, DSc, today discussed current issues and challenges in the field of civil aviation with representatives of the Civil Aviation Directorate of the Republic of Serbia.
The Prime Minister emphasised the importance of continuously improving the regulatory framework and international cooperation in the field of civil aviation, noting that the development of air transport is of strategic importance for Serbia’s economic development, strengthening the tourism potential and enhancing the country’s international connectivity.
During the meeting, the improvement of air transport was also discussed, along with changes to the regulatory framework governing the flight approval procedure.
The impact of the proposed amendments on air carriers was addressed with the aim of increasing the efficiency of the regulatory system, maintaining high safety standards and creating more favourable conditions for the further development of civil aviation.
Particular attention was devoted to launching a regular air route between Belgrade and Cairo, which would contribute to expanding air traffic between the Republic of Serbia and the Arab Republic of Egypt, developing tourism, boosting economic cooperation and strengthening ties between the two countries.
Participants in the meeting included Acting Director of the Civil Aviation Directorate Ognjen Babić and Acting Deputy Director of the Directorate Verica Ječmenica. At the initiative of Prime Minister Macut, Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt to the Republic of Serbia Ahmed Salama Soliman also joined the meeting for operational discussions on matters related to the launch of the route and the coordination of activities on both sides.
