Kostunica stressed the importance of last year’s talks with President Vladimir Putin in Sochi, which brought concrete results in further bilateral, political, and economic cooperation between the two states.
Kostunica noted that all mutual debts between Serbia-Montenegro and Russia have been settled and that economic cooperation between the two countries has improved. He added that Serbia is interested in attracting Russian companies to take part in privatisation in Serbia.
Poltavchenko said that Russia gives full support to preserving the State Union of Serbia and Montenegro and recalled that the state union is Russia’s strategic partner in the Balkans.
He said that Russian companies are interested in investing in Serbia’s infrastructure and in the privatisation of banks and consumer goods manufacturers.
Serbian Economy Minister Predrag Bubalo also attended the meeting and was presented possibilities for cooperation in the petrochemical industry, the non-ferrous metals sector, agriculture, and tourism.
