The Ministry of Finance and Economy stated today that the World Bank is satisfied with the results which the teams of this ministry and this bank have achieved in the preparation of the programme of structural reforms in the state sector and the sector of public enterprises.
In a letter to Minister of Finance and Economy Mladjan Dinkic sent by Head of the World Bank Office in Belgrade Loup Brefort, it is said that the World Bank wants to praise the Ministry of Finance and Economy for making a new Draft law on public enterprises which, in their opinion, will make significant improvements in terms of depolitisation, transparency and accountability in the sector.
The World Bank says in the letter that the new law will define the criteria which the candidates for the position of director will have to fulfil, and that the proposed law should introduce a new, more objective and transparent procedure for the election of directors and appointment of members of the supervisory board, in accordance with the principle that the responsibility of oversight should be linked to the role of manager appointments.
