Twinning of municipalities from Kosovo-Metohija, central Serbia

Mayors and representatives of almost 70 municipalities signed today in Kosovska Mitrovica the “Charters of Intent“, thus creating preconditions for the twining of cities and municipalities from Kosovo-Metohija with the cities and municipalities from central Serbia.
Apart from representatives of the local self-government, the event in Kosovska Mitrovica was also attended by representatives of the Serbian government’s Office for Kosovo-Metohija and the Diocese of Raska and Prizren of the Serbian Orthodox Church.
Assistant Director of the Office for Kosovo-Metohija Mirko Krlic said that Serbia must and can provide spirituality, culture, health care and education to citizens in this area, which is the task of the state.
The Office for Kosovo-Metohija is the organiser of the two-day campaign of twinning of cities and municipalities of Kosovo-Metohija with municipalities and cities in central Serbia.
The main idea of the activity is to increase the presence of Serbian institutions in Kosovo-Metohija and by directly connecting municipal structures, to provide material and spiritual cooperation in the fields of economy, education, culture, health care and other segments of social activity, with the aim of confirming the territorial integrity of Serbia.
