Kosovo Ombudsman Marek Antoni Nowicki said today that the situation in the villages of Batuse, Lipljan and Priluzje is on the verge of a humanitarian catastrophe and called for an urgent solution assuring the citizens that they will get electricity.

The electricity problems date back to 1999, Nowicki said and recalled that a large number of Serb workers who were employed in the Kosovo electricity company were left without jobs then.
All those who are involved in this problem should show openness and flexibility in finding the right solution and consistent action in order to avoid the response that could cause a crisis, reads the statement from Ombudsman’s office.
