Vulin told Tanjug news agency that this is the third arrest at Jarinje administrative crossing in the north of the province in the past 20 days and noted that this constitutes a continuation of a planned campaign to intimidate the Serb population and create a border on the administrative line.
I call upon EULEX to return to its status neutral position and not to act on the orders issued by the provisional institutions of self-government in Pristina, because the basis of EULEX’s mandate is the status neutral principle, Vulin observed.
He said that the international community must understand that unless it remains status neutral, the atmosphere in the province will be even more oppressive, that tension among the Serbs in the province will build up and any implementation of agreements will be hampered.
The status neutral principle is the beginning and the end of any talk and it must be adopted as a behaviour model by the international community. I call upon EULEX not to make any arrests and to act solely within the limits of its mandate, to return to the status neutral principle and not to let the mission be used to encourage heated scenarios and obstruct the implementation of present and future agreements, Vulin noted.
