State Secretary of the Ministry of Finance and Economy Vlajko Senic said that the Serbian government today approved recapitalisation of Komercijalna Banka in the amount of €100 million, which will be completed by the end of October.
Senic told the Beta news agency that the state will thus keep majority stake in the bank, as one of the largest banks in the domestic market with great trust.
According to him, the funds for the recapitalisation of Komercijalna Banka are provided from the revised budget for 2012.
He pointed out that the government has the largest stake of 42.6% in Komercijalna Banka, while the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) owns 25%.
If the state had not exercised its right to increase its capital by the end of the year, its share would be decreased to 27.46%.
The State Secretary of the Ministry of Finance and Economy said that Komercijalna Banka has shown vitality and ability to survive in the market at the most difficult times for the banking sector.
