The talks focused on problems that arose in the trade of goods at the administrative line between central Serbia and the southern province. The participants in the discussion agreed that it is very important to strengthen institutions for control of trade of goods and establish all necessary measures for preventing smuggling and frauds following the introduction of the value added tax (VAT). The Serbian government is intensively working on finding a model of control in the form of a special department within the tax administration that would be an efficient system of control and would not effectively turn the administrative line into a border.
It was also agreed upon to examine all aspects of this solution in the next few days and then on Monday definitively establish the procedure for trade of goods at the administrative line and its control.
