In an interview for today’s issue of Politika daily, Vulin stressed that it is important to establish the precise number of Serbs living in the province, the way they live and the status of their property in order to have more efficient distribution of aid which Serbia sets aside for its people in Kosovo-Metohija.
We have more than 33,000 requests for compensation of damages or the return of illegally seized, damaged or destroyed housing units which belong to Serbs. It would be very useful if we knew whether these Serbs are alive, where they live, whether they are still in these flats and houses or were displaced to central Serbia, Vulin observed.
I expect the international community to decide that it is in its interest to determine the factual state of affairs in the field so that we can together find a way to gather these facts, Vulin concluded adding that he would like to cooperate with the international community on this and every other issue regarding Kosovo-Metohija.
He noted that the population census is an extremely good mechanism for avoiding the abuse of the Kosovo allowance, which Serbia pays to Serbs in the province.
